Public Safety Institute is pleased to announce it’s inaugural ITRA Swiftwater Vehicle Rescue Instructor Workshop to be held 10-14 June, 2020 at the Mangahao Whitewater Park, Shannon, New Zealand.
This workshop is open to swiftwater operators holding one or more of the following qualifications:
The 5 day workshop is comprised of arrival/registration evening of Tuesday 9th June (Mangaore Community Hall, Shannon) followed by:
Communal accommodation is provided at no additional charge (Tuesday evening to Sunday morning). Participants can bring their own tent if they wish.
Food and snacks are responsibility of the participant. Participants must bring own PPE (drysuit and thermals highly recommended, water rescue helmet, rescue/whitewater PFD, knife, whistle, gloves, boots etc), sleeping bag and camp stretcher/mat. Further information on equipment will be supplied to confirmed participants. Participants are responsible for their own transport to and from the Mangaore Community Hall.
Please note this course involves swimming and activities in Grade/Class III rivers.
Swiftwater Responder Instructor Candidates
By the end of the workshop, those with clearly demonstrated ability to instruct at the swiftwater responder level, having passed the level 2 assessment, and acted consistently with the values set by ITRA will be provided with supporting documentation to enable them to apply to ITRA to be considered as a Level 1 ITRA Swiftwater Instructor.
Swiftwater Vehicle Instructor Candidates
For those already holding the ITRA Level 2 Swiftwater Instructor qualification, and having demonstrated competency in swiftwater vehicle rescue instruction similar supporting documentation can be supplied to enable them to be considered as a Level 3V Swiftwater Instructor.
